In the five-match Twenty20 International series, Australia defeated India by five wickets behind Glenn Maxwell’s century off 47 balls.
In the third game of the five-game series, Australia defeated India by five wickets at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati on Tuesday, November 28. This was Australia’s second-highest successful run-chase in Twenty20 Internationals.
India was called in to bat first, but after Ishan Kishan and Yashasvi Jaiswal left the game quickly apart, they were in serious danger. After Kishan was dismissed for a duck by Kane Richardson, Jason Behrendorff claimed the wicket of Jaiswal.
India returned to the game thanks to a 57-run stand between Suryakumar Yadav and Ruturaj Gaikwad for the third wicket. Aaron Hardie claimed Yadav’s wicket just as he was poised for a huge score. The skipper of India made 39 runs off of 29 balls before being caught off guard by a mishit shot.
Meanwhile, Gaikwad continued from where he left off in Trivandrum, reaching his half-century off 32 balls. The right-hander then increased the stakes and beat the Australians to become the first Indian player to reach a hundred runs in a Twenty20 International. With 13 fours and seven sixes, Gaikwad reached his hundred off 52 balls and continued to remain unbeaten on 123 off 57 balls.
Hardie didn’t have a good day because he tied the record for the most costly Australia bowling spell in Twenty20 Internationals. His final stats were 4-0-64-1. Bowling Glenn Maxwell in the last over proved to be a disastrous move as he gave up thirty runs.
India proceeded to amass an incredible 222 runs at a cost of three wickets. Tilak Varma contributed as well, scoring four fours and a rapid 31 off 24 balls.
