BYD Seal EV

Following the e6 electric MPV and the Atto 3 electric SUV, BYD’s third model in India will be the Seal electric sedan.

BYD Seal booking period has opened, as announced by Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD today. On March 5, the electric sedan will make its debut in India.

Following the e6 electric MPV and the Atto 3 electric SUV, BYD’s third vehicle in India will be the Seal. It is anticipated to cost approximately Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom). As a point of reference, the ex-showroom price of the E6 is Rs 29.15 lakh, while the ex-showroom price of the Atto is Rs 33.99 lakh.

The fully built-up (CBU) route will be used by the BYD Seal to reach India. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 (Rs 46.05 lakh, ex-showroom) and the BYD Seal might compete on price, but not in terms of body style.

According to reports, the BYD Seal would have an 82.5kWh battery pack and a potent 230hp/360Nm permanent magnet synchronous motor at the back axle. The electric automobile is claimed to have an impressive 570 km of range on a single charge and to accelerate quickly—in just 5.9 seconds, from 0 to 100 mph.

With a 150kW charger, the BYD Seal can get a 10-80% charge in about 37 minutes because of its cutting-edge blade technology. A standard 11kW AC charger will take about 8.6 hours to fully charge from 0 to 100%. If that wasn’t already remarkable, rumors of a high-performance, dual-motor AWD model with 530 horsepower and a 520 km range are also circulating.

Customers who reserve the Seal by April 30 will also be eligible to take part in an exclusive program, according to the business. A complimentary UEFA match ticket and a round-trip flight ticket from India to the match city will be given to a chosen few winners.

BYD was named the official e-mobility partner and partner of the UEFA European Football Championship 2024 (UEFA Euro 2024) a month ago. In 2023, BYD sold over 3 million new energy vehicles (NEVs) worldwide. The company’s models are used in more than 400 cities across 70 nations and regions.

In March 2007, BYD India was founded in Chennai, India, and it has an office in New Delhi. The Indian subsidiary has invested more than USD 200 million in two factories totaling more than 140,000 square meters. Its products include electronic devices, electric trucks, electric forklifts, electric buses, electric buses, and battery energy storage.

The passenger car division of BYD India operates 24 dealerships across 21 locations in the country.

Key Features of BYD Seal Electric Sedan Zooms

  • Long Range: The BYD Seal boasts an impressive range of over 700 kilometers on a single charge, making it suitable for long journeys. This is thanks to its Blade Battery technology, which is known for its high energy density and safety.
  • Powerful Performance: The Seal comes in two battery pack options, offering either 150 kW or 180 kW of power. The car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds, making it one of the fastest electric sedans on the market.
  • Premium Design: The Seal features a sleek and stylish design with a sporty feel. The interior is spacious and comfortable, with high-quality materials and advanced technology features.
  • Advanced Features: The Seal comes loaded with a number of advanced features, including a panoramic sunroof, a large touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, and a suite of driver-assistance features.
  • Competitive Pricing: The BYD Seal is expected to be priced competitively in the Indian market, with an anticipated ex-showroom price of around ₹50 lakh. This makes it a compelling option for buyers looking for a premium electric sedan with a long range and powerful performance.

All things considered, the BYD Seal seems to be a well-rounded electric sedan that provides a decent mix of amenities, performance, range, and affordability. Seeing how it does in the Indian market, where it is anticipated to compete with products from Korean manufacturers like Hyundai and Kia, would be intriguing to watch.
