Manu Bhaker, Esha Singh, and Rhythm Sangwan competed in the women’s 25m Pistol team event, bringing India another medal in shooting.

Manu Bhaker, Esha Singh, and Rhythm Sangwan won the women’s 25m Pistol team event on Wednesday, September 27 in Hangzhou, giving India their sixth shooting medal in Asian Games 2023.

They won a close battle over China. The Indian three scored 1759 points, three more than their opponents. It was also India’s 16th medal in the current competition.

  • Manu Bhaker

Manu Bhaker, an Indian Olympic sniper, has established a national and worldwide reputation. She demonstrated her exceptional ability at the 2018 ISSF World Cup, where she won two gold medals and became the youngest Indian to do so.

Her historic triumph in the women’s 10m air pistol event at the 2018 Commonwealth Games was an added feather in her crown, especially given that she was just 16 at the time and was making her debut at the Games.

In the mixed team competition, she won her second gold medal, this time with countryman Om Prakash Mitharval. Bhaker also won gold at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in 2018, setting a new record of 240.9 points in the 10m air pistol event.

  • Esha Singh

Esha Singh, born on January 1, 2005 in Hyderabad, rose to prominence as an Indian amateur shooter. Esha earned the National Champion in the 10m Air Pistol category at the age of 13 in 2018. Her achievements include a silver medal in the 2019 Junior World Cup in Suhl, Germany, and a gold medal in both the Individual and Mixed Team events at the Asian Junior Championships.

Esha, the daughter of a rally driver, experimented with sports like as tennis, go-karting, skating, and badminton. The young kid who decided to pursue air pistol was introduced to shooting during a visit to the Gachibowli Athletic Stadium in Hyderabad.

Her achievements were recognized in 2020 when she received the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar, a civilian award given to individuals under the age of 18.

Esha’s achievements continue to pile up, including multiple gold and silver medals from global championship tournaments, and she currently ranks 15th in the world in the 10m Air Pistol category.

She has received government-funded purchases of ammunition and air pistol equipment, as well as financial aid for Olympic training cycles. The path of the young shooter represents devotion, hard effort, and the strength of determination.

  • Rhythm Sangwan

Rhythm Sangwan, an Indian sniper, is well-known in the world of competitive pistol shooting. Sangwan has a solid track record of success in the 10 m Air Pistol and 25 m Pistol competitions, most notably at the Shooting World Cups and Shooting Championships, where she has competed as both a junior and senior competitor.

With four Junior World Championship gold medals to her record, the youthful prodigy is no stranger to the spotlight. She won three Silver medals at the Worlds as a senior athlete and six senior ISSF World Cup medals, including three Golds, two Silvers, and a Bronze. Sangwan also has a global record of 595 points at the ISSF global Cup in Baku in 2023.

Sangwan is ranked among the top 15 women in the world in her individual divisions. She now ranks 12th in the 10m Air Pistol event and 11th in the 25m Sport Pistol event. Her accomplishments include gold in the 10m Air Pistol mixed team event at the 2023 Cairo World Cup and silver at the same year’s Bhopal World Cup. She also won a bronze medal at the Baku World Cup and a gold medal at the Cairo World Cup as a member of the women’s 25m Pistol squad the year before.

Rhythm Sangwan’s achievements epitomize the ideal blend of intrinsic talent, unwavering hard effort, and helpful interventions. She continues to fly the Indian flag high on the global shooting scene.
