The Japanese manga series Spy x Family, written and illustrated by Tatsuya Endo, is pronounced “spy family” and stylized as SPY×FAMILY. He is blind to the fact that the woman he consents to marry is an accomplished assassin and the girl he adopts as his daughter is a telepath. Since March 2019, the series has been serialized biweekly on Shueisha’s website and Shōnen Jump+ program. As of October 2023, the chapters have been collected into twelve tankōbon volumes. Viz Media obtained the license for North America.

Produced by Wit Studio and CloverWorks, the anime television series adaption debuted in April 2022 on TV Tokyo and its affiliate stations. It was licensed globally by Crunchyroll and in Asia by Muse Communication. In 2022, the second half ran from October to December. October 2023 saw the beginning of the second season, and in December 2023, Spy × Family Code: White, an anime movie, would be published.

Spy x Family was one of the best-selling manga series in circulation with over 31 million copies by September 2023. The series’ humor, artwork, and storytelling have all received accolades.

Plot:

A Westalian agent known only as “Twilight” is entrusted with spying on Donovan Desmond, the head of the National Unity Party in Ostania, in order to preserve the status quo between the warring nations of Westalis and Ostania. Nevertheless, Twilight can only approach Desmond—who is renowned for being reticent—by enrolling a child in the same private school as Desmond’s sons and pretending to be a fellow parent.

He adopts a young orphan named Anya, marries a woman named Yor Briar, and establishes the alias Loid Forger in order to achieve this and project the appearance of a happy family. Unbeknownst to him, Yor is actually a professional assassin and Anya has the ability to read minds. Neither Yor nor Loid know the real identities of the other, nor does Anya know what their real occupations are. Later on, the family adopts a dog named Bond that has precognitive skills. Twilight has been a spy for years, so even with these unidentified variables and his sporadic stupidities, he needs to learn how to be the ideal husband and father in order to complete his goal.
