ICC One-Day International Rankings: Mohammed Siraj gained 57 points and jumped from ninth to first in the bowling rankings following his 6-wicket haul in the Asia Cup final. Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya both advanced in the batting and all-rounder rankings.

After his heroics in the Asia Cup 2023 final against Sri Lanka, India fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has risen dramatically in the ICC ODI Rankings for bowlers. Siraj jumped from ninth to first in the latest International Cricket Council rankings, which were released on Wednesday, September 20.

Mohammed Siraj had 637 points prior to the Asia Cup final and has now secured the top spot in the ICC ODI Bowling Rankings with 694 points. He has 16 more points than Josh Hazlewood, who was dethroned from first place and is now ranked second in the bowling rankings.

Mohammed Siraj delivered a stunning performance in the Asia Cup 2023 final versus Sri Lanka on September 17 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Siraj took 6 wickets in 7 overs and finished with stats of 6 for 21 in the final. The 29-year-old’s spell helped India bowl out Sri Lanka for 50, the lowest score ever in an ODI final.

Siraj shocked the Sri Lankan top-order with four wickets in an over, moving the ball both ways in a brilliant effort on a gloomy afternoon in Colombo. He became only the third bowler, following Lasith Malinga and Chaminda Vaas, to take four wickets in one over. His ODI stats of 6 for 21 were also the fourth best by an Indian bowler.

It is Siraj’s second time at the top of the ODI rankings, having previously held the position in January 2023 following a strong performance against Sri Lanka at home.
