In late August, a nubia-made phone with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 showed in benchmarks, and we assumed it was a new Red Magic phone. We now have more concrete confirmation that this was the case, since Red Magic has confirmed that the 9 Pro will be released on November 23.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset will be announced by Qualcomm in late October, but phone manufacturers have already begun testing it. A prototype with the SoC ran Geekbench, yielding a whopping 5,977 multi-core score, which is 20% higher than the results of the current second-generation Qualcomm chipset.
The date was revealed in a social media post by the brand’s gaming division, which stated that the new phone will not only have an evolution in design, performance, battery life, and screen.
The teaser lacked an image of the smartphone. Based on past Red Magic Pro models, we may presumably expect a triple camera system, a cooling fan, and an under-display selfie camera.
According to an August Geekbench listing, the Red Magic 9 Pro will include a 12 GB RAM variant. However, more powerful choices, such as 16 GB or perhaps 24 GB, are likely.
The phone will very certainly launch with Android 14 out of the box, with the most recent version of Redmagic OS on top and a physical button on the side to toggle the game mode.
