World Cup 2023: Maheesh Theekshana believes England misjudged Sri Lanka in Thursday’s match at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
After three consecutive defeats, Sri Lanka now sits fifth in the table with back-to-back victories. After defeating the Netherlands, the Islanders defeated defending champions England by eight wickets at Bangalore’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Sri Lanka achieved success, according to Theekshana, because they were able to stick to the plan that they devised prior to the match.
“I think they under underestimate our team because we also lost three games and we only won against the Netherlands. I think they underestimated us. That’s why the result went our way because we backed our strength, we went like a simple plan, so, that’s why we won the game today,” Theekshana was quoted as saying in the post-match press conference.
