Equipped with a crest that specialized in creation, Gaius is a man who has attained the highest level of his abilities and is acknowledged as the world’s most powerful sage. He wants to receive the close combat mark because, despite his overwhelming might, he is not happy with his abilities. Acknowledging that an individual’s crest cannot be altered, Gaius plans to to reincarnate far into the future in the hopes of changing his fate.

After being reincarnated as six-year-old Mathias Hildesheimr, the third son of a duke’s family, he succeeds in earning the close combat mark he has always desired. Regretfully, it seems that in this century, humankind’s comprehension of magic and swordplay has drastically decreased. The one magic item discovered at random is of poor quality. Every spell, not even the most basic ones, is lost. Even worse, his current mark—which was formerly thought to be the strongest—is currently thought to be the weakest.

Still, Mathias surpasses all anticipations. He enrolls in the Second Academy in the royal capital and does exceptionally well on every exam. But Mathias soon discovers the terrible truth about humanity’s decline into magical mediocrity, demons, and sets out to permanently reverse the effects of his millennium-long absence. With humanity at its most vulnerable, Mathias must stop their evil schemes.
