Yuvraj took to social media site ‘X’ to thank a fan for the sand art film commemorating the anniversary of his six sixes against Broad. Yuvraj Singh blasted six consecutive sixes against England in the Super-8 stage of the 2007 T20 World Cup in South Africa.

“Thank you for this lovely sand art, Christy Valiyaveettil, even though you created this for my birthday, today is also an apt occasion for me to share it,” Yuvraj posted on ‘X’ :

The encounter between India and England in the Super Eights was vital. Following a disheartening loss against New Zealand, the Indian team’s fate in the tournament was dependent on their victory in this game. The action took place on the Kingsmead surface in Durban, which is known for its excellent batting conditions.

The Indian squad got off to a fast start, with openers Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir scoring half-centuries and contributing over a hundred runs. The image then changed to an unforgettable occasion when Yuvraj entered the field with only 20 balls remaining in the innings.

An argument with England’s Andrew Flintoff seemed to light a fire under the Indian batsman. In the 19th over, he unleashed a devastating onslaught, unsheathing a torrent of sixes on the helpless Broad. Each ball soared over the boundary with careful precision and ferocious velocity, crossing mid-wicket, backward square-leg, deep extra cover, and long on.

This attacking blitz enabled Yuvraj to complete his half-century in just 12 balls, setting a new record for the quickest fifty in any cricket format.

This incredible feat was a watershed moment in the match and, by extension, the tournament. It propelled the Indian side to a convincing victory and provided the impetus for a winning streak. This encounter was undeniably important in India’s quest for their first World Cup in 24 years.
