iOS 18

This year, June 10–14 is when Apple is holding its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). Apple usually releases new operating system versions on the first day of WWDC. We anticipate the release of watchOS, tvOS, macOS, and visionOS updates this year in addition to the announcement of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18.

Like in previous years, Apple will host the WWDC online, but on June 10, developers and students can attend an exclusive event at Apple Park to celebrate in person. There, they can watch the keynote, meet with Apple team members, and take part in exclusive activities. But it will only be available so much. You can find information about how to participate here, where you must submit an attendance request.

If not, it is evident that anyone can participate in the online event for free. According to the official press release, Apple will help developers “elevate their apps and games” by offering them “unique access to Apple experts, as well as insight into new tools, frameworks, and features” throughout the event.

ios 18 Highlight Features

iOS 18 is rumored to be a major update for iPhones, and while Apple will reveal all the official details at WWDC in June, here’s what we can expect based on leaks and rumors:

AI Focus:

  • Smarter Siri: A revamped Siri that leverages new AI tech for improved understanding and assistance.
  • Generative AI Integration: Integration of generative AI features in core apps like Messages (auto-complete sentences) and Music (create personalized playlists).

Improved Communication:

  • RCS Messaging: iPhone users might finally be able to enjoy features like read receipts and high-quality media sharing with Android users through RCS messaging support.

Enhanced User Interface:

  • VisionOS Inspiration: The design may take cues from VisionOS, featuring circular icons and a more translucent UI.
  • Home Screen Revamp: More customization options for the home screen, including potentially free placement of app icons and gaps between them.

These are all speculations, and we’ll have to wait for the official announcement at WWDC to know for sure.
