The Mahindra XUV400, which is priced between Rs 15.99 lakh and Rs 19.19 lakh (ex-showroom), competes with the Tata Nexon.ev facelift.

The Nexon EV has been India’s best-selling electric car by a wide margin, adding to Tata Motors’ dominance in the electric passenger car market (76% in Q1 FY24 according to VAHAN registration). Many design aspects from the ICE are carried over to the current model.

The 2023 Tata Nexon.ev makeover is sleek and modern, drawing inspiration from Tata’s Curvv concept. The new Nexon and Nexon EV models differ slightly from the old Nexon and Nexon EV models, which were identical. The electric vehicle’s (EV) aerodynamics have been improved, increasing the vehicle’s range.

The electric Nexon has a single-tone body-colored grille piece, as opposed to the ICE model’s blacked-out grille. A charging status indicator is provided by a full-width LED light bar running across the nose of the EV. The vehicle’s dynamic image is enhanced by the new headlight design with sequential LED DRLs and new alloy wheels.

The 2023 Tata Nexon.ev redesign follows the layout of the new ICE Nexon, providing a multi-textured, premium passenger experience. A classic gear selector has taken the role of the gear selector dial. The EV is outfitted with a 12.30-inch touchscreen display and a new user interface. The new 10.25-inch HD instrument cluster can beam maps and has a multi-dial view option. A 360-degree camera, wireless charger, ventilated front seats, air purifier, type-C ports, sunroof, JBL audio system, and voice commands are among the other features.

The new Nexon’s second-generation permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM).ev is 20kg lighter and more efficient, with a 129PS engine in the MR and a 145PS engine in the LR. The torque remains stable at 215Nm. There are three drive modes, like before: City, Sport, and Eco. The battery pack in the MR is 30kWh, whereas the battery pack in the LR is 40.5kWh.

Tata claims a range of 325km for the MR and 465km for the LR, a 12km improvement over the previous generation. Furthermore, the MR can sprint from 0 to 100kmph in 9.2 seconds, compared to 8.9 seconds for the LR.

The 2023 Tata Nexon.ev makeover includes a 7.2kW AC charger that takes 4.3 hours to charge the MR’s battery from 10% to 100% and 6 hours to charge the LR’s battery from 10% to 100%. Charging time for a 10-80% charge is shortened to 56 minutes using a 50kW DC fast charger. Only the LR version of the SUV has vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-load (V2L) capabilities.

The warranty is one of the most important factors. The motor and battery pack are covered by an 8-year or 1,60,000-kilometer guarantee, whichever comes first. The vehicle, on the other hand, comes with a standard 3-year or 1,25,000km (whichever comes first) warranty. For comparison, the battery in an EV costs over 35% of the total car cost.

Interior of the 2023 Tata Nexon EV facelift has been significantly redesigned, with a focus on improving luxury, comfort, and technology.

The most noticeable change is the new dashboard layout, which features a sleek and minimalist design with a dual-screen setup. The first screen is a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system that is positioned horizontally above the center console. The second screen is a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster that is located behind the steering wheel.

The infotainment system is powered by the latest software and comes with a variety of features, including a connected car system, voice control, and support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The digital instrument cluster can be customized to display a variety of information, such as driving speed, range, and navigation instructions.

Other notable changes to the interior include:

  • A new two-spoke steering wheel
  • A revised center console with a floating gear shifter
  • New HVAC vents
  • New upholstery and trim options
  • A panoramic sunroof

The 2023 Tata Nexon EV facelift also comes with a number of new features, including a wireless charging pad, ventilated front seats, and a rear seat armrest.
