MS Dhoni turned back time with several potent shots. Dhoni’s 37 runs off 16 balls gave the spectators much to cheer about, even if CSK lost the game by 20 runs.
During his knock, the 42-year-old Dhoni blasted four fours and three sixes, showing off a peek of his incredible ability. When he took the field, CSK needed to win off 23 balls with 72 runs. Despite facing an uphill battle, Dhoni ensured that Chennai concluded their innings with a barrage of boundaries.
With four points and a net run rate of 0.976 after the victory, CSK fell to second place in the standings. The top slot was taken by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), who had a better net run rate of 1.047.
In the meanwhile, Dhoni—who had resigned as the Chennai team’s captain—broke a few records and thrilled the Visakhapatnam audience with an incredible strokeplay display.
