Asian Games 2023: Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar, Swapnil Kusale, and Akhil Sheoran led the Indian team to gold with a score of 1769 in the men’s 5 rifle 3 positions event.

On Friday, India’s 50m Rifle 3Ps men’s team of Aishwary Tomar, Swapnil Kusale, and Akhil Sheoran won gold in the team event with a new world record in the 2018 Asian Games. This is India’s 15th medal and 7th gold medal in shooting at the Asian Games in 2023.

India achieved a remarkable score of 1769, surpassing the USA’s previous record set in Peru last year by eight points. China secured the silver medal with a score of 1763, while the Republic of Korea earned the bronze with a score of 1748.

Swapnil and Aishwary both scored 591 in the qualification event, gaining the top two spots and earning their places in the approaching final later in the day. Notably, their outstanding achievements set new marks for the Asian Games qualification stage as well as Asian shooting records.

India’s fantasy run in the shooting arena has so far given a record 15 medals, five of which are gold, and the success story is sure to continue in the coming days.

Swapnil, a medal candidate at next year’s Olympic Games in Paris, was on fire, shattering Asian qualification and Asian Games records on his way to a brilliant 591.

Aishwary shot the same score as Swapnil, but advanced to the finals and finished second owing to less shots closer to the bullseye (inner-10s). Swapnil had 33 ‘inner-10s’, while Aishwary had 27.

PM Modi said on social media ‘x’. formerly known as Twitter, “A stupendous win, prestigious Gold and a world record!
