nepal vs mongolia

Nepal men’s cricket team made history at the ongoing Asian Games cricket tournament in Hangzhou, China as they smashed the highest-ever total in T20I cricket history.

On Wednesday, Nepal hitters broke three global records in the Asian Games 2023 match against Mongolia, becoming the first team to post a 300-plus total in T20Is. Kushal Malla, a 19-year-old left-handed hitter, broke David Miller’s and Rohit Sharma’s joint record by scoring the fastest T20I century in 34 balls.

Malla, batting at No. 3, smashed 12 sixes and eight fours to remain unbeaten on 137 and lead Nepal to their highest-ever T20I score of 314 for 3 against Mongolia, who chose to field. Dipendra Singh Airee, their No. 5 batter, also shattered the record books, smashing a nine-ball fifty that broke Yuvraj Singh’s 16-year-old record. Yuvraj needed 12 balls to get his fifty in the World T20 match against England on September 19, 2007. Afghanistan previously held the record for the highest innings total in a T20I, amassing 278 for 3 against Ireland on February 23, 2019.

Here are the highest T20I scores

1: Nepal – 314/4 vs Mongolia (2023)

2: Afghanistan – 278/3 vs Ireland (2019)

3: Czech Republic – 278/4 vs Turkey (2019)

4: Australia – 263/3 vs Sri Lanka (2016)

5: Sri Lanka 260/6 vs Kenya (2007)
